Product and Problem Solution Ideas
Some ideas which come to my mind are documented here. There is nothing special about them. They are general ideas may be many people have thought about and even patented some of them. But these ideas occured to me when I away some of the problems in day-to-day lives of people Water Drainage in Streets
Useful for City Planners
Goal: To make sure the the rains and other waters coming from different streams are drained away
Why: To avoid health hazards, Accidents, Road Traffic delays
How:
1. Provide a slight slope from one side to the other or from the middle to the sides when laying the roads.
2. Provide drainage channel below the Side walks/Foot Paths.
3. Provide grill covered hole and drainage pipes connecting the open to the drainage
Discussions:
There can be drainage systems at both the sides of the road, if the road is very wide as given in the Fig 1 below. Otherwise it can also be one side drainage. But the drainage pipes must be large enough to drain away all the water which can accumulate during a (d)rainy season. Local authories generally have good idea about the amount of water which gets accumulated
Water Drainage in Bathrooms which have Titled Flooring
Useful for Real Estate Planners and Builders
Goal: To make sure the the water from every part of the bathroom is drained away
Why: To avoid health hazards, Accidents due to stagnant water
How:
1. Provide a slight slope from all sides to the drainage opening
2. Make sure the tiles or cement flooring is doesnt have any ups and downs and gradually ramp down to the Drainage Opening
Discussions:
There can be drainage systems at many points also. if the bathroom is large enough it can be provided multiple drainage points. Otherwise it can be one. But the drainage pipes must be large enough to drain away all the water which can accumulate during bathing or washing.
